This one oil is about as close to a “cure all” as it gets, and for a good reason. It’s antibacterial, anti-fungal and seriously moisturizing! Its long list of uses (including being a stellar all natural makeup remover) secured its position on my list of must-have natural beauty products – and it may already be in your house!
I’ve been talking about and working with it for years! Once I was even ridiculed for bring a jar of it to fashion week and I often had to go into lengthy explanations as to why this was better than all the other junk makeup artists typically use.
It was a life saver to remove even the most stubborn, waterproof makeup…and you know what? Now everyone is using it!
It really works and models have come up to hug me on the street because they said it I changed their lives by telling them about it.
While doing makeup on a shoot in Mexico in 2011 I filmed the video below “Multi-Purpose, All Natural Makeup Remover”
I was using this oil on the models during that photo shoot to achieve beautiful glow on their skin, a light sheen in their hair, and at the end of the day we wiped all their makeup off with it.

How to Use Coconut Oil As An All-Natural Makeup Remover
To take off any (and all) makeup using coconut oil, I place several drops (if liquid) or a small scoop (if solid) on a cotton pad, then sweep over my face gently. The oil removes the makeup without any excess pulling on sensitive skin.
Some Kinds of Coconut Oil Are Better
You can’t use just any coconut oil! The cheap stuff is often bleached, highly processed and environmentally horrifying.
In fact, many people who think they have allergic reactions to coconut oil, are actually reacting to other hidden chemicals. Without going into a ton of detail here (I’ll save that for another article), just know that the quality of the coconut oil you buy actually matters and will determine the amount of true benefit you get from it.
That’s why I always buy organic, cold pressed coconut oil.
The Best Organic Coconut Oil Is…
Drum roll please!
RMS Beauty’s Raw Coconut Cream!
I’ve had extensive conversations with creator, Rose-Marie Swift about the lengths she goes to in order to ensure the integrity of the oil is top notch during every part of the manufacturing process.
She even infused the same oil into super convenient all natural makeup remover wipes ! You can buy those here too.
Beauty Benefits and Uses For Coconut Oil
You can take off your makeup, cleanse your face, condition your hair, moisturize your body or even cook with coconut oil.
We have referred to it as “The Oil Of Wonder” in a previous article. So you might want to read that too.
Even if you aren’t trying to remove makeup, you can still use coconut oil as a cleanser, and reapply before you go to bed to wake up with ultra hydrated skin!
Of course how much you use will depend on your skin type, the climate and the season.
I regularly use coconut oil on the ends of my hair, as a lip balm or on any dry areas of skin. You can use it as a hair mask in the shower, and even as a cuticle softener.
If you aren’t already, you can also use it in the kitchen as a healthier alternative to vegetable oils.
Please tell me what you use coconut oil for in the comments below! And if you haven’t tried it yet; do you think you will now?
