I don’t know about where you are, but here on the east coast August is just ridiculously hot and humid. The idea of using any kind of heat producing implement on hair seems like torture. For anyone with wavy or curly hair the frizz-inducing humidity is frustrating. Being that I have naturally wavy hair and a desire to avoid blow driers, I ventured off to Yarok’s New York City “Beauty Kitchen“ to get a heat-free, frizz-free summer hair style from their director of education Theadora Guzman.
A quick look at Yarok: Their hair care products are plant-based, non-GMO, vegan and 100% natural. Using effective and totally human/planet friendly ingredients, they’ve created a range of styling and care products that foam, lather, hold and style just like traditional ones would. The company’s founder Mordechai Alvow really put heart, soul and style into his brand that also gives back to help save the Amazon rain forest. Their operations and packaging are carbon neutral and even their salon is built with sustainable materials. Don’t you just want to hug him for all that?
Back to that easy summer hair style…When you watch the video below you’ll see how Theadora cocktailed two of their products together and then squeezed, scrunched and twisted my hair into shape using only her hands. Once my hair had air-dried after we filmed, the finished style came to life. All I did was fluff up the roots and break apart some of the twists with my fingers (no brushing!).
Her easy to follow technique gave my hair body, volume and fun waves that looked sleek (no frizz!) and held up throughout the next two days. Even if you have longer hair than mine, you can also use the method Theadora demonstrates in the video to tame your locks and give them some bounce.
Especially for those of you with long hair, be sure to catch Theodora’s #1 Hair Care Tip in our video below.

My hair is being to thin a little and know that nartual is best. Tired it last year but got fed up after while, with the process. It is just above my shoulder and would prefer not cutting my hair. My sister told me to twist it after washing, however since never being the type of girl to do my own hair, wasn’t able. Would like to be nartual, however nartual hair isn’t very straight. What is the best style for hair besides; nartual; that will not cause breakage, hair to thin, more stress? Since sweat a lot in my head at night need a style, that when get up in the morning my hair isn’t nappy, and able to go and exercise without worring. What is the best style for hair besides nartual? Braids Press, or Relaxers, and since on a budget cannot always get the a professional, and must professionals have meet always want to relex my hair. Please help.
