But it’s always been behind closed doors.
In order to see how the process of a Sustainable Beauty Lesson worked, you’d have to be a private client of mine.
If you’ve ever dealt with adult acne, finding a great all natural foundation that won’t clog your pores can be hard.
So when my friend Renee Peters – a model committed to green living – came to me for help to address this very challenge, I decided that it was time to take my “cleaning & greening” makeup overhaul process out of the shadows and share it with the world.
In our video below you’ll learn about an all natural foundation I recommended to help cover her acne, dark circles and keep her skin clear.
Keeping in mind that a fresh, natural look is what Renee was aiming for, I replace her old makeup with natural and organic (when possible) makeup just for her skin type and tone.
Watch our Makeup Overhaul (Part 1) to pick up tips on:
- All natural foundation to cover acne without irritating skin
- Concealer that works to cover dark circles
- Powder that adds coverage and cuts shine without ruining the radiance
- How and when to use brushes
- Application techniques to get luminous skin without feeling the weight of thick, gunky makeup.
- Awesome book recommendation addressing women’s health and hormones
You may want to set aside a little bit of time to watch this video, but I’m sure it will be well spent for all nuggets of valuable information.
Acne After Getting Off the Pill
Renee is a NYC based model who had been having problems with her skin since she decided to ditch birth control (as seen in photo below).
She knew that her risk of cancer would dramatically increase after those 10 years of being on the pill. [source]
Like many other women, she was not given any hormonal counseling from her doctor to help her body find a new balance after the drugs had left her body.
So she was left with the aftermath of out-of-control hormones that wrecked her previously perfect skin.
Since modeling is all about having a gorgeous face, Renee’s acne was a big cause for concern. As you’ll hear her talk about in the video, battling hormonal acne not only impacted her career and earning potential but also her self-esteem.
I suggested she read a brilliant book about women’s health, hormones and fertility called Woman Code, that honestly every single woman should read at some point.
All Natural Foundation for Acne
Anyone who’s ever struggled with acne (me included!) becomes rather desperate to find a way to fix and cover the issue.
The problem is that many foundations that offer coverage and a “flawless finish” are products that are loaded with ingredients that can make acne even worse!
Finding makeup and skin care that will not clog your pores is vital, but it’s not just about non-comedogenic makeup. It is extremely important when battling acne, that you are very gentle with your skin, and that you take a look at your hormonal balance and diet.
In this video, I work with Renee to substitute her old foundation that had an ingredient in it which acted like plastic wrap further exacerbating the problem of her problematic skin.
This is just part 1 in a series of 3, so keep watching for more Makeup Overhaul videos as we clean and green Renee Peter’s makeup bag!
