Morning coffee reinvented as a scrub

by Kristen Arnett on July 9, 2012 | Posted in Answers & Advice, Skin Care

A coffee ground scrub infused with almond and vanilla oils is a fantastic wake up for skin.

An easy, all-natural body scrub that will have you smelling and looking delicious, while giving an eco-friendly purpose to your used coffee grounds.

The aesthetic benefits of these yummy ingredients:

Caffeine combats free-radicals, shrinks blood vessels, aids in breaking up fat deposits, is pH neutral for skin and the smell sends a signal to awaken your whole body!

Almond Oil nourishes the skin with Vitamin E and Vitamin D and helps reduce inflammation.

Vanilla Oil is a powerful anti-oxidant that soothes the senses and uplifts moods.

This DIY scrub is great for combating the appearance of cellulite, varicose veins, even treating acne and eczema.

Recipe:
In a shower-safe, metal bowl mix 1/2 cup of fresh coffee grounds, 2 tbsp of Almond Oil, 4 drops of Vanilla essential oil, and add a dash of cinnamon, if you feel inspired.

Best used in a morning shower after allowing the warm, not hot, water to help the pores in the skin expand. Then in large and small circular motions scrub skin all over using your hands. Use firm but gentle pressure, while concentrating on areas that have cellulite or varicose veins.  If possible, stop the water and let the mixture soak into the skin for 2 minutes for an even greater effect.  The whole process will leave skin feeling super-soft and smooth.

Can you make this and store it in an air tight container? And if so how long will it last?
