The trend towards organic beauty treatments has been growing steadily over the last decade. I believe it is being fueled not just from consumer demand, but also by the professionals who are becoming more educated about how natural botanicals play a crucial role in the health of their clients’ skin and bodies.
When naturally focused day spas and retail shops start popping up in ritzy arts districts, it’s obvious that green beauty isn’t just for the hippie-crunchy types anymore — rather, green beauty has become serious business.
Portland, Oregon – one of my favorite cities in the world – got its first green beauty retail shop recently. Echo Natural Beauty offers clients organic beauty treatments and the opportunity to touch, see and feel skincare and makeup products before buying them.
Oregon has always attracted the more eco-minded folks, and Oregonians have a history of being pioneering people. So it’s not much of a surprise that two Portland-based estheticians would come together at the frontier to create a clean beauty destination, satisfying the demand of an upscale and discerning clientele.
I popped in to say hi to the owners, Jami Sherman and Shannon Milligan to see how they are bringing green beauty offline with a sophisticated touch.
I really hope you enjoy this close-up with these pioneers who are making purchasing natural beauty products a personable and delightful experience!

Echo Natural Beauty is a convenient destination for Portland residents and passing tourists to get holistic spa services like facials, massage and sugar hair removal, and buy their favorite natural and organic skincare and makeup brands.
You can visit Jami & Shannon’s shop Echo Natural Beauty in person and online.
Also if you’re curious about all-natural sugaring hair removal thing we were chatting about in the video you can see another Close Up I did with Shobha Salon in New York City that dives a bit deeper into that.
