Green Beauty Matters

Written by Founder, Kristen Arnett

Did you know your skin, the largest organ of the body, is a giant sponge capable of absorbing all kinds of things, which are immediately carried into the bloodstream?

That never concerned me until I found out that there were some very questionable ingredients in the cosmetics I was slathering all over myself.

Consider the average woman (maybe you) uses about 12 products per day with 168 different ingredients.* Over her lifetime she will ingest 4 to 6 pounds of lipstick!

Now, don’t you want to know what your body is absorbing, what you are licking off your lips and how it could be affecting your health? I did!

As decades have passed, it is undeniable that the rate of cancer, particularly breast cancer, has increased at an alarming rate.  While it's not true to say that one has directly led to the other, it's too hard to ignore the studies which tell of the rising concern that toxic chemicals found in many beauty products mainly used by women, are showing up in breast cancer tissue.

How the Green Beauty Team Came to Be

After learning more about the ill-effects these prevalent chemicals can have on the body and the appearance of the skin, I started to make major changes in the products I use both personally and as a makeup artist.  Since shifting my ways to more natural, my skin has never looked better!  Plus, I feel better knowing that what I’m applying to myself and clients isn’t risking our health.

Through extensive and on-going research, I’ve built a makeup kit, and a beauty cabinet filled with cosmetics that work as hard as they play; seeking out products that are nourishing for the body and healthier for the environment.

Whether on a photo set or at a dinner party, women of every age are curious to know, “what will make me look my best?”  I have been surprised at how many of them would love to change over their products to more natural versions, of course they still want them to be effective.

Barraged with questions about makeup, skin care, hair care and even nutrition, I wanted there to be one place to send them all for accurate and helpful information about choosing the best in Green Beauty.  So I created it!
