We can do everything right when it comes to selecting non toxic beauty products for ourselves, but if we’re putting them on while simultaneously saying mean things to ourselves and/or hating what we look like (even a little bit), we’ll never truly be beautiful or healthy.
I wrote an article about that very topic for MindBodyGreen, “The Toxic Parts Of Your Beauty Routine Aren’t What You Think” because I think it’s so important as women, and men, that we consider how we talk to ourselves on a daily basis as part of our healthy living.
In the article I cover five of the most common ways people beat themselves up on a daily basis without even realizing it:
2. Compliment Rejection & Deflection
3. Pointing Out Your Flaws
4. “Fix It” Mentality
I highly encourage you to go read the article right now, and pay special attention to the “Practice” paragraph in each section which gives you simple, yet powerful ways to turn around some of those negative thought patterns.
Please note: If you’ve caught yourself being self-deprecating and now you’re going to be all upset and hate yourself for that too, stop!
That’s still a toxic way of being and isn’t going to get you anywhere except into a downward spiral of poisoning your psyche. Let’s all take the hammer out of our hands, please.
Recognize that you picked up this unconscious conversation somewhere in life, and it doesn’t make you a bad person. In fact, you are very normal. It’s just that normality isn’t serving you, nor is it a good use of your energy.
Start reclaiming your beauty in a healthy way by being gentle — and of course while using fabulous, natural products.
Here’s a suggestion, Pin the image above to an inspiration board if you have one. Put it on your bathroom mirror or wherever you spend time looking at yourself as a reminder that you are worth being kind to — not just sometimes, all the time!
With much love for each of you,
